Amazon's new Kindle Cloud Reader webapp allows you to read ebooks you've purchased via the Kindle store on any device without installing an app to do it, regardless of whether you have an active internet connection.
Kindle readers have long been able to read book purchases online, on tablets and on a PC or Mac for a while. But how does one go about reading Kindle books on a Chromebook? Amazon positions Kindle as a platform-agnostic service, one that can be accessed from virtually any device. Connect your Kindle to your computer via USB. In order to transfer music files to your Kindle, you'll need to connect it to your computer. Your Kindle uses a Micro-USB cable, which is the same cable that many Android phones use for charging. Amazon’s Kindle store does have many free Ebooks apart from paid ones, all you need is a Kindle account to get the Ebook. Cloud Reader currently supports only Chrome and Safari. The new service gives you access to your entire Kindle library and all of the books you've purchased or borrowed, and an embedded Kindle Store so you can make purchases and add books to your library from within the Cloud Reader webapp. There's also an iPad-customized version of the webapp that's specifically designed for the iPad's large touchscreen.

Cloud Reader Kindle Chrome
On first login, the service offers to set up offline reading, which installs a browser extension that caches books and makes them available without an internet connection. Kindle Cloud Reader currently only supports Google Chrome, Safari for Mac and PC, and Safari for the iPad. Amazon says support for Firefox, IE, and other platforms is on the way in the coming months.
